Walking and driving instructions

Oaklands Falls is roughly a 1hr30 minutes’ drive away from Sydney, or just 5minutes’ from Hazelbrook town centre. From Sydney head west along the M4 which becomes A32 until you reach Hazelbrook (roughly 1h20minutes). Then turn right onto Oaklands Road and follow it for 1km until you see a bridge over a creek. The road is a sealed one.

There is no dedicated car park at the start of the track, so you'll have to park on a side of the road. There are no facilities there other than a track’s sign and a picnic table (5 minutes after beginning of the walk).

Alternatively, you can take a train from Sydney to Hazelbrook and walk 1.5km to the track's starting point.

The first waterfall you'll see along the Burgess Falls Track is Horseshoe Falls . You will reach its base withing 10 minutes (official sign says 1 hr/1km return which is the way too pessimistic). From here continue to walk along the main trail for 10 minutes until you see a sign 'Glow-Worm Nook Falls', which is perhaps the best waterfall along this track.

From here it is another 10-15 minutes of walk to reach 'Oaklands Falls' sign, then steep stone steps bring you to the waterfall. Can be slippery, please take extra care.

Probably, it used to be quite a beautiful waterfall, but as per 2019 there were fallen trees hiding the waterfall, so it's difficult to photograph it. Yet, you can walk behind the falls if you wish.

From here either go back (1hr total walking time; official sign 1.5hrs), or continue to see one more waterfall (total walking time is about 1hr 20min).

Oaklands Falls is a permanent waterfall, but best to visit is after decent rain. Ideal time to visit – late autumn, winter, early spring.
