Walking and driving instructions

Lady Hordern Falls is roughly a 2hrs' drive away from Sydney CBD, or 40 minutes' from Wollongong. From the Sydney or Wollongong head south on the M1. Slide right onto the A48/Terry St immediately after the bridge over the Macquarie Rivulet. On the intersection with Illawarra Hwy/A48 turn right and follow the main highway via Macquarie Pass for the next 27.5km. Then turn left onto Pearsons Ln/Tourist Drive 8 and follow it for the next 13km. Then slide right onto B73, and after 1.2km turn right to Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre (well signposted). There is a huge parking here. The road surface is sealed. Park entry fees: $4 per vehicle per day. Opening times: 9am to 5pm daily. Closed Christmas Day.

There are all sorts of facilities there, including Visitor Information Centre, cafe,  picnic tables, wheel-chair access, toilets, etc. The gates close at 5pm.

From the Visitor's Centre a wheel-chair friendly walking path (150m) brings you to the Fitzroy Falls' top. It takes about 5 minutes to reach the waterfalls' top. Another 5 minutes walk down the stairs, and you reach the viewing platform called 'Jersey Lookout' offering the best view of the Fitzroy Falls.

From here, follow the track called 'West Rim Track' via Twin Falls and The Grotto until you reach 'Starkeys Lookout offering the first, and probably, the best view of the Lady Hordern Falls. From here another 200m and you reach 'Renown Lookout' offering another view of the waterfall. In clear day, you will see Fitzroy Falls from a distance (first photo on the Gallery).

Return via the same route.Total walking time is about 1.5hrs (3.480m return).

Lady Hordern Falls is a permanent waterfall which can have little water during dry season; best to visit is after decent rain. Make sure it's not a foggy day, as the waterfall might not be seen at all!
