Killen Falls is roughly a 1hr20minutes’ drive away from Gold Coast, or just 17minutes' from Ballina. From Ballina travel north-west along Tamarind Dr for roughly 8km, then keep to the left onto Tintenbar Rd. Then turn right onto Friday Hut Rd. After 2.8km turn right onto Killen Falls Dr. There is a car park at the end of this road (450m from begging of the road).

The car park is huge, but has no facilities other than walk’s signs.

From the parking take a walk which follows the creek and leads to the waterfall. After 5-7 minutes of walking you will reach the upper lookout. The walk up to lookout is a very easy one. Then the challenging part starts - follow the path which leads down to the creek and then follows the creek up to the waterfalls base. This part can be dangerous and slippery, hence take extra care!

The basin at the base of the falls is an excellent and very popular swimming hole. Be aware of snakes.

It is possible to walk behind the falls.

Return via the same route. Total walking time is about 30 minutes.

Killen Falls is a permanent waterfall.
