Walking and driving instructions

Erskine Falls is roughly a 15 minutes’ drive away from Lorne, or 2 hours from Melbourne. From Lorne Town Centre follow William Street, which becomes Erskine Falls Rd. In 8 km, turn right into Erskine Falls Access Road and follow it for the next 1.5 km. The road is a sealed one.

The car park, at the end of the road, has a few dedicated spaces, but have no facilities (neither toilets nor tables). Closest toilets are Blanket Leaf Picnic Ground (6 minutes’ drive).

From the parking follow an easy 5-minutes’ walk which leads you to the Upper Viewing Platform. You will see full waterfall from here. Unfortunately, due to some stairs the walk is not suitable for a wheelchair. From here, you either return to your car (5 minutes) or continue on to the track. If you choose the second option, prepare to walk a set of long stairs. The descend takes roughly 10 minutes and brings you to the Lower Viewing Platform and the Erskine River. The waterfall looks spectacular from this platform. The walk back to the car takes roughly 15-20 minutes and consists of over 200 stair-steps. There is a bench in the middle of the way where you can have a rest.

If you have time and proper shoes, you can walk to two more waterfalls from the Lower Platform. Instead of taking the stairs, follow the river downstream (continue on to Erskine Falls Walk). In 10 minutes you will reach Straw Falls. Splitter Falls is found along the same walk and is roughly 40 minutes’ walk away from Straw Falls. Return via the same track (1.5-2 hrs return), or continue on to the track till you reach Lorne (2-3 hrs one-way). You need to organize a transport if you choose to do one-way walk only.

Erskine Falls is a permanent waterfall.
