Walking and driving instructions

Twin Falls is roughly a 2hrs' drive away from Sydney CBD, or 40 minutes' from Wollongong. From the Sydney or Wollongong head south on the M1. Slide right onto the A48/Terry St immediately after the bridge over the Macquarie Rivulet. On the intersection with Illawarra Hwy/A48 turn right and follow the main highway via Macquarie Pass for the next 27.5km. Then turn left onto Pearsons Ln/Tourist Drive 8 and follow it for the next 13km. Then slide right onto B73, and after 1.2km turn right to Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre (well signposted). There is a huge parking here. The road surface is sealed. Park entry fees: $4 per vehicle per day. Opening times: 9am to 5pm daily. Closed Christmas Day.

There are all sorts of facilities there, including Visitor Information Centre, cafe,  picnic tables, wheel-chair access, toilets, etc. The gates close at 5pm.

From the Visitor's Centre a wheel-chair friendly walking path (150m) brings you to the Fitzroy Falls' top. It takes about 5 minutes to reach the waterfalls' top. Another 5 minutes walk down the stairs, and you reach the viewing platform called 'Jersey Lookout' offering the best view of the Fitzroy Falls.

From here, follow the track called 'West Rim Track' which in roughly 10 minutes brings you to the Twin Falls Lookout (signposted) and then to the top of the falls. Most of the time there is no water in Twin Falls. Please refer to the Gallery below to see a couple of photos taken at the Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre.

Return via the same route.Total walking time is about 25-30 minutes (1.400m return).

If you are keen to make a longer walk, you might consider to walk to the end of West Rim Track which offers a view of The Grotto and Lady Hordern Falls (Renown Lookout).

Twin Falls is dry almost all the time; it runs only after a heavy rain or when the water drain from the Fitzroy Falls Reservoir.
