Walking and driving instructions
Baxter Creek Falls is roughly a 30 minutes’ drive away from Sunshine Coast, or 1hr 30 minutes' from Brisbane. From Sunshine Coast travel west along the State Route 8/Maroochydore Rd. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Nambour Connection Rd and follow this road for the next 2km, then slide left onto Woombye Palmwoods Rd and follow it for the next 4km. Then turn left on Margaret St, after 2.5km turn right onto Hunchy Rd. After 5km of driving slide left onto Razorback Rd, then turn left onto Main St/Tourist Drive 23. Stay on the Tourist Drive 23 for the next 3.3km, then turn left onto Flaxton Mill Rd and follow it for the next 1.7km until you reach the car park. The road surface is sealed. The parking area is on a side of the road, and doesn't have any facilities other than the track signs. From the parking follow a well signposted Great Walk which after 1.2km of walking brings you to Flaxton Walkers campsite. The campsite has all basic facilities, including toilets. Shortly after the trail becomes pretty much a downhill walk with lots of step. Remember, you will have to walk back, hence the right level of fitness is required as well as plenty of drinking water. The trails brings you to the base of the falls. The waterfall looks really impressive after heavy rain, while during dry season it could be almost dry. Return via the same route. Total walking time is 2-2.5hrs. The way to the falls is much faster than the way back. Baxter Creek Falls is a permanent waterfall. Best time to visit - Feb,Mar,Apr. |
