Walking and driving instructions
Murray Falls is roughly a 1hr15minutes’ drive away from Ingham or 1hr10min from Innisfail. From Ingham travel 74.5km north on the A1. Then turn left onto well-signposted Bilyana Rd which becomes Middle Murray Rd, then Murray Falls Rd. Follow these roads for 20.3km until you reach a car park at the end of Murray Falls Road. The road surface is sealed. The car park is huge and has all sorts of facilities, including campground, showers, toilets, BBQ and picnic tables. From the car park follow a well-maintained walking path, called River Broadwalk, which brings you to the river, and then to two viewing platforms. These platforms offer great views of the waterfall. Swimming is prohibited here. Total walking time is about 10 minutes. The falls’ top is accessible via Yalgay Ginja Bulumi walk (45-60 minutes return), which starts from the car park either. There are two excellent swimming holes 500m downstream the falls. Don’t forget a towel :) Murray Falls is a permanent waterfall. Beautiful all year round. |
