Walking and driving instructions
Mapleton Falls is roughly a 30 minutes’ drive away from Sunshine Coast, or 1hr 35 minutes' from Brisbane. From Sunshine Coast travel west along the State Route 8/Maroochydore Rd which becomes Nambour Connection Rd. In Nambour turn left onto Arundell Ave, then on a round-about turn right onto Carter Rd. On a 'T'-shape intersection turn left onto Nambour - Mapleton Rd/State Route 23 and follow it for the next 9.2km. Then turn right onto Obi Obi Rd, and after 3km slide right onto Mapleton Falls Rd. The road surface is sealed. The car park, at the end of the road, is relatively big, and has information board and a picnic area nearby (5 minutes walk). From the parking a concrete path leads to the upper waterfall lookout. It takes just 1 minute to get here. You will see the top of the falls only. There is no official way to see the whole waterfall (a photo of it is available on the information board only). If you have time you can do a loop walk starting from the same parking. Beautiful cascades are found in the beginning of the walk (along the way to the picnic area). The waterfall is not visiblue from the lookout on this walk. Mapleton Falls is a permanent waterfall but can be almost dry without rains. |
