Walking and driving instructions
Nandroya Falls is roughly a 30minutes’ drive away from Innisfail, or just 20 minutes’ from Millaa Millaa. From Millaa Millaa travel 23km south-east on the State Route 25 (Palmerston Highway). There is a big parking area on your left with a campsite and track’s signs. The road surface is sealed. The car park at Henrietta Creek camping area has all sorts of facilities, including BBQ, picnic tables, shelter, swimming hole and toilets. From the car park cross the footbridge over Henrietta Creek and follow a well-formed Nandroya Falls circuit track (recommended to walk in clock-wise direction). After 30-35 minutes you will pass Silver Creek Falls, 10m high. Then you will need to walk a side-track for another 10-15 minutes to reach the base of Nandroya Falls. The official signs say it’s 50m high, which is probably correct if you include the main leap and the lower cascade. Otherwise, it looks more like 30-35m high. From here return to the beginning of the side-track, then either return via the same route (1.5hrs total walking time), or continue waking it as a loop (2-3 hrs total walking time). Be aware of leeches! Nandroya Falls is a permanent waterfall. Beautiful all year round. Best time to visit – Dec to Mar. |
