Walking and driving instructions
Empress Falls is roughly a 1hr30 minutes’ drive away from Sydney, or just 5minutes’ from Wentworth Falls town centre. From Sydney travel west on the M4 which becomes A32 until you reach Wentworth Falls (roughly 1h30minutes). Then turn left onto Falls Road and follow it for the next 1.3km, then turn right onto Fletcher St. The car park, associated with Conservation Hut, is at the end of the road. The road is a sealed one. The car park is a big one and has all sorts of facilities, including cafe, shop, information centre, toilets, picnic tables and track’s signs. From the parking follow the signed track and walk down the stairs leading to the upper lookout. You won`t see much from here, the waterfall is seen from a distance, and you can see only its top. Then a set of steep stairs brings you to the waterfall`s base. The waterfall is stunning and very easy to photograph. From here either come back via the same route (total walking time is 45 minutes); or continue walking the National Pass to visit more waterfalls (Red Rock Falls, Brittania Falls, Flat Rock Falls, Lodore Falls and Sylvania Falls). National Pass is closed (as per 2018/2019) due to a rockfall. Empress Falls is a permanent waterfall beautiful all year round. |
