Walking and driving instructions
Crystal Shower Falls is roughly a 1hour’ drive away from Coffs Harbour, or just 10 minutes’ from Dorrigo town centre. From Dorrigo travel south on the B78 (Waterfall Way) for 2km. Then turn left onto Dome Rd and follow it for the next 1.4km, and then near Dorrigo Rainforest Centre turn right onto Lyrebird Ln. A car park is at the end of the road (1.1km). The road is a sealed one. A good size car park has all sorts of facilities, including toilets, BBQ, picnic tables and track’s signs. There are 2 options to walk to Crystal Shower Falls, below we will describe the fastest one. Alternatively, you can start from Dorrigo Rainforest Centre and walk the track as a loop. From The Glade Picnic Area follow Satinbird Stroll for 5 minutes, then on the track junction take Wonga Walk, which is a gentle downhill walk through lush forest. The path is sealed and wall-formed, and roughly in 30-40 minutes brings you to a suspension bridge at Crystal Shower Falls. Cross the river via the bridge which offers you a great view of the waterfall and the valley, then, immediately past the bridge, turn right and follow the river upstream – you will be able to walk under the falls!!! The track goes behind the waterfall to a water-worn cavern, where you can look through the falling water. Return via the same route (total walking time is about 1h20min); or walk the track as a loop and visit one more waterfall – Tristania Falls (total walking time 2.5-3hrs). Crystal Shower Falls is a permanent waterfall which flowing well throughout a year. |
