Walking and driving instructions
Kondalilla Falls is roughly a 30 minutes’ drive away from Sunshine Coast, or 1hr 30 minutes' from Brisbane. From Sunshine Coast travel west along the State Route 8/Maroochydore Rd. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Nambour Connection Rd and follow this road for the next 2km, then slide left onto Woombye Palmwoods Rd and follow it for the next 4km. Then turn left on Margaret St, after 2.5km turn right onto Hunchy Rd. After 5km of driving slide left onto Razorback Rd, then turn left onto Main St/Tourist Drive 23. Stay on the Tourist Drive 23 for the next 2.5km, then turn left onto Kondalilla Falls Rd and follow it for the next 800m until you reach the car park. The road surface is sealed. The car park has all sorts of facilities, including BBQ, picnic tables, toilets and information board (100m downhill walk from the parking). From here follow Kondalilla Falls Circuit. Roughly after 30 minutes of downhill walk you will reach the upper lookout, which provides a great view of the waterfall in a rainy season. From here a steeper downhill walk will bring you to the falls base. Return either via the same route, or walk it as a loop track. Total walking time is about 1.5hrs. As it’s pretty much an uphill walk all the way back, make sure you’ve got enough water, and reasonable level of fitness is required. Kondalilla Falls is a permanent waterfall but can be almost dry without rains. Best time to visit - Feb-Mar. Note: Kondalilla Falls in flood (as per a photo in the Gallery) is taken from the Information Board. |
