Walking and driving instructions
Barron Falls is roughly a 40 minutes’ drive away from Cairns, or 1hr 10 minutes’ from Port Douglas. From Cairns travel 29km north-west on the A1. Then turn left onto well-signposted Fallon Rd. In 1.1km, on a round-about, turn left onto Masons Rd, and then, finally, onto Barron Falls Rd. The car park is located at the end of the road (1.3km). The road is a sealed one. Alternatively, you can drive through (or walk from) Kuranda Village centre – the parking is 3.2km away from the village. Just follow the signs. The car park is a big one, and has toilets. From the parking follow an easy path which in 15-20 minutes brings you to Din Din Barron Falls lookout. This walk is a wheel-chair friendly (with assistance). You can see the full waterfall from a distance. Return via the same route. Total walking time 30-40 minutes. Alternatively, you can access the falls’ lookout from the tourist train, which stops at the Barron Falls Railway Station; or via Skyrail’s cable car gondolas which offers unforgettable falls’ view from above. Barron Falls is a permanent waterfall. Beautiful all year round. Best time to visit – Dec to Mar. |
