Walking and driving instructions
Davies Creek Falls is roughly a 1 hour’ drive away from Cairns. From Cairns travel north along the National Route 1 for roughly 49km, then turn left onto Davies Creek Rd. The car park is, to your left, 8.3 km from beginning of the road. The road is a unsealed for the last 7.5km, and it is not suitable for caravans. There are no facilities there other than the tracks sign. The nearest toilets and picnic tables are available at the campsite, 1km before the car park. From the parking follow an easy circuit track which brings you to the waterfall upper lookout (200m, or 5 minutes of walk). Enjoy the beauty of the falls from the official viewing platform. Return via the same route (10 minutes), or walk it as a loop (20 minutes). A popular swimming hole and a picnic area are 300m away from the waterfall (signposted). Davies Creek Falls is a permanent waterfall but could be almost dry during winter. Beautiful all year round. Best time to visit – Dec to Mar. |
