Walking and driving instructions
Govett`s Leap is roughly a 1hrs 50minutes’ drive away from Sydney. From Sydney head west along the M4 which becomes A32 until you reach Blackheath (roughly 1h45minutes). Then turn right onto Govetts Leap Rd and follow it for 2.9km until you reach the road's end. There is a dedicated car park here. The road surface is sealed. The car park at Bridal Veil Falls has all sorts of facilities, including Information Centre, gift shop, toilets and picnic tables. From the parking it`s less than 1 minute walk to the valley` lookout offering a first view of the falls from a distance (to your right). From here follow Bridal Veil Falls Lookout track (the sign says 15 minutes; don’t be confused, it is a way TO lookout, not including the way back). The track gently descents to the waterfall` top lookout via lots of stairs Wichita offers an excellent viiew of the top of the Falls. You can see Horseshoe Falls from a distance. Return via the same route. Total walking time is about 40 minutes (15min TO waterfall, and 25min BACK). It is possible to walk to the falls` base - a steep descend takes roughly 1hr return, butt totally worths it. Govett`s Leap is a type of waterfall which can dry out completely. Best time to visit - after a descent rain (which can happen quite often, even when there is no rain in Sydney). |
