Walking and driving instructions
Horseshoe Falls is roughly a 1hrs 50minutes’ drive away from Sydney. From Sydney head west along the M4 which becomes A32 until you reach Blackheath (roughly 1h45minutes). Then turn right onto Govetts Leap Rd and follow it for 2.9km until you reach the road's end. There is a dedicated car park here. The road surface is sealed. The car park at Bridal Veil Falls has all sorts of facilities, including Information Centre, gift shop, toilets and picnic tables. From the parking it is less than 1 minute walk to the valley` lookout offering a first view of the Govet`s Leap (Bridal Veil Falls) from a distance (to your right). From here follow a signed track (to your left), which says 15 minutes to Horseshoe Falls (15minutes walk is to the old lookout which is closed). Follow this track until you reach the old lookout (has a sign `lookout closed`), then continue walking the main track. On the track`s junction turn right to the Pulpit Rock, cross the creek (there is a stunning cascade to your left), and continue climbing the main track until you reach the official lookout, offering great view of the Horseshoe Falls from a distance. Return via the same route. Total walking time is about 45-50 minutes. Horseshoe Falls is a type of waterfall which can dry out completely. Best time to visit - after a descent rain (which can happen quite often, even when there is no rain in Sydney). |
