Walking and driving instructions

Crows Nest Falls is located about a 45-minute drive from Toowoomba or roughly 2 hours from Brisbane. From Toowoomba, travel north on the New England Highway (A3) for 43 km until you reach the village of Crows Nest. Then, turn right onto Three Mile Road and continue for 5.4 km before turning right onto the road leading to the National Park. The sealed road leads to a large car park about 750 meters ahead.

The car park offers a range of facilities including toilets, picnic tables, BBQ areas, and a paid campsite.

From the car park, follow the Kauyoo Loop walk, which is mostly flat without significant climbs or descents. This trail takes you past the Cascades, Kauyoo Pool, and Bottlebrush Pool before reaching the Crows Nest Falls lookout. From this vantage point, you can view the top of the falls, but access to the base and swimming hole is restricted without a permit.

You can return the way you came or complete the loop, with the total walk taking around 45 minutes.

For a longer hike, extend your walk from the Crows Nest Falls lookout to the Koonin Lookout, making the return journey approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Crows Nest Falls is a permanent cascade with beautiful swimming holes, though during dry periods it may reduce to a trickle. The best time to visit is after substantial rainfall, especially between January and March.

If drone flying is permitted near the falls, it offers excellent opportunities for capturing stunning photos.
