Walking and driving instructions

Coomba Falls is located approximately a 1 hour and 30-minute drive from Toowoomba, or about 2 hours and 45 minutes from Brisbane. From Toowoomba, travel north on the New England Highway (A3) for 98 km until you reach Kingaroy Cooyar Road. Turn left onto Kingaroy Cooyar Road and continue for 10.5 km, then turn right onto Coomba Waterhole Road (not suitable for caravans). Follow this road for 1.6 km to reach the Coomba Waterhole car park. The entire route is on sealed roads.

The car park is fairly spacious but does not have any facilities, so be sure to take all your rubbish with you.

From the car park, take an easy, well-maintained walk that leads to a large swimming hole at the base of Coomba Falls. The water is usually quite cold, making it a refreshing spot to cool off on hot days.

The return walk follows the same path but takes a little longer due to stairs on the way back. The total walking time is about 15 to 20 minutes.

Coomba Falls is a permanent cascade with excellent swimming holes at its base; however, during the dry season, the waterfall may reduce to a mere trickle. The best time to visit is after significant rainfall, especially between January and March.

If drone flying is permitted in the area, it offers an excellent opportunity for capturing stunning photos of the falls.
