Walking and driving instructions
Amphitheatre Falls is roughly a 15 minutes’ drive away from Noojee, or 2hr from Melbourne. From Nojee head east along the C426, then slide left onto well-signposted Toorongo Valley Rd. Follow this road for 6.3km (last 1.5km is unsealed road) until you reach the Toorongo Falls Reserve Car Park. The parking area has toilet facilities. There is a camping ground nearby. From the car park, cross the bridge over the Toorongo River and pick one of the following options: either walk to Toorongo Falls, out and back, 1.2 km return; or 2.2 loop walk which includes both Toorongo Falls and Amphitheatre Falls. If you hike the loop track in an anticlockwise direction, you will reach the Toorongo Falls after about 20 minutes of uphill walk. There is a viewing platform for the best observation of the waterfall. After about 20 minutes of further uphill walking you will reach Amphitheatre Falls, which is shorter and less beautiful than the first waterfall. It takes 20 more minutes to finish the whole loop. Total walking time (excluding stops) is about 1 hour. Amphitheatre Falls is a permanent waterfall. |
