Walking and driving instructions
Leura Cascades are roughly a 1hr40 minutes’ drive away from Sydney, or just 10minutes’ from Katoomba. From Sydney travel west on the M4 which becomes A32 until you reach Leura (roughly 1h30minutes). Then turn left onto Leura Mail and follow it until intersection with Gordon Rd. Turn right onto Gordon Rd which becomes Cliff Dr. The Leura Cascades car park is reached after 1km. The road is a sealed one. The car park, on your left, has lots of spots for vehicles. Picnic tables, a playground and toilets are available there. From the parking, follow a well-formed walking path which runs along the Leura Falls Creek. The first waterfall is reached almost in the beginning of the walk, so this is the only one accessible by wheelchair. Then a set of stairs brings you to a first foot-bridge. Cross the creek, then keep to the right. There are a few beautiful cascades along the path, and one bigger waterfall with a pool at the end. The whole walk takes roughly 15-20 minutes, and the way back due to the stairs takes roughly 20-25 min. Return via the same route, or from the second bridge walk for a couple more minutes to reach the upper lookout platform of Bridal Veil Falls. Leura Cascades are a series of permanent waterfalls. Ideal time to visit – late autumn, winter, early spring. |
