Walking and driving instructions
Leura Falls is roughly a 1hr40 minutes’ drive away from Sydney, or just 10minutes’ from Katoomba. From Sydney travel west on the M4 which becomes A32 until you reach Leura (roughly 1h30minutes). Then turn left onto Leura Mail and follow it until intersection with Gordon Rd. Turn right onto Gordon Rd which becomes Cliff Dr. The Leura Cascades car park is reached after 1km. The road is a sealed one. The car park, on your left, has lots of spots for vehicles. Picnic tables, a plagound and toilets are available there. From the parking, follow a well-formed walking path which runs along the Leura Falls Creek. A set of stairs brings you to a first foot-bridge. Cross the creek, then keep to the right – follow Leura Cascades walk. There are a few beautiful cascades along the path, and one bigger waterfall with a pool at the end. From the second bridge walk for a couple more minutes to reach the upper lookout platform of Bridal Veil Falls. The view is spectacular, and you can either turn back (45-50 minutes total walking time), or continue on to the Round Walk, then in roughly 10 minutes turn left and walk down the stairs to the base of Bridal Veil Falls. If you have time, we would highly recommend to do the whole walk. Total walking time is about 1h40min. The way back takes much longer due to stairs. Leura Falls is a permanent waterfall. Ideal time to visit – late autumn, winter, early spring. |
