Walking and driving instructions
Lila Falls is roughly a 1hr40 minutes’ drive away from Sydney, or just 10minutes’ from Katoomba. From Sydney travel west on the M4 which becomes A32 until you reach Leura (roughly 1h30minutes). Then turn left onto Leura Mail and follow it until intersection with Gordon Rd. Turn right onto Gordon Rd which becomes Cliff Dr. The Kiah Lookout car park is reached after 1,5km. The road is a sealed one. The car park, on your left, has few spots for vehicles. No facilities are available there. The closest toilets are found at the Leura Cascades car park (550m away). From the parking, follow a well-formed walking path (keep to the right) which runs along the Echo Tree and Flat Rock Lookout, then leads to Jamisons Lookout. From there the fun part of the journey starts - never-ending sets of stairs go down and down, and in roughly 45minuts – 1 hour you will reach Lila Falls (on your right, signposted). Lila Falls is the least beautiful of three companions – Lila Falls, Linda Falls and Marguerite Cascades. From here cross the creek via a foot-bridge and in 2-5 minutes of further walk you will reach Linda Falls (probably, the most beautiful of 3 friends). We highly recommend to walk down to Marguerite Cascades – add 10-20 minutes of total walking time. Return via the same route. Total walking time is about 2hrs, or 2.5hrs if you walk to Marguerite Cascades. The way back takes much longer due to stairs. Lila Falls is a waterfall which might have little or no water at all during dry season. Ideal time to visit – late autumn, winter, early spring. |
