Walking and driving instructions
Horseshoe Falls is roughly a 1hr30 minutes’ drive away from Sydney, or just 5minutes’ from Hazelbrook town centre. From Sydney head west along the M4 which becomes A32 until you reach Hazelbrook (roughly 1h20minutes). Then turn right onto Oaklands Road and follow it for 1km until you see a bridge over a creek. The road is a sealed one. There is no dedicated car park at the start of the track, so you'll have to park on a side of the road. There are no facilities there other than a track’s sign and a picnic table (5 minutes after beginning of the walk). Alternatively, you can take a train from Sydney to Hazelbrook and walk 1.5km to the track's starting point. Horseshoe Falls is the first waterfall you'll see along the Burgess Falls Track. You will reach its base withing 10 minutes (official sign says 1 hr/1km return which is the way too pessimistic). From here either go back (20 minutes total walking time), or continue to see 3 more waterfalls (total walking time is about 1hr 20min). Horseshoe Falls is a permanent waterfall, but best to visit is after decent rain. Ideal time to visit – late autumn, winter, early spring. |
