Walking and driving instructions
Casuarina Falls is roughly a 1hour 15minutes’ drive away from Coffs Harbour, or just 22 minutes’ from Dorrigo town centre. From Dorrigo travel south on the B78 (Waterfall Way) for 2km. Then turn left onto Dome Rd and follow it for the next 1.4km, and then near Dorrigo Rainforest Centre keep to the left (stay on Dome Rd). A car park is at the end of the road (9.3km). The road surface is unsealed for the last 6.6km. A good size car park at Never Never Picnic Area has all sorts of facilities, including toilets, wooden BBQ, picnic tables and track’s signs. Be aware of snakes. From the parking follow Casuarina Falls circuit (Rosewood creek track anticlockwise), do not miss Link Track (navigation skills required) - keep to the right, then follow Blackbutt Track (keep to the left). First part of the walk is easy and almost flat, while the second one is pretty much a descent via a seria of zigzags to the top of the Casuarina Falls. You can see the top of the falls only, but there is a stunning Cascade upstream seen and accessible from here (on the main photo). The Cascade is about 10m tall, and the actual waterfall is about 50m. There are at least 2 other waterfalls found along the same track but they are covered by trees and there is no obvious paths to their bottoms. There is one more smaller Cascade with a pool found at the beginning of the track, and there is a walking path down to its bottom. Return via the same track. Total walking time is about 1.5hrs. You can combine this walk with Coachwood Falls track, then the total walking time excluding stops is about 2.5hrs. Casuarina Falls is a permanent waterfall flowing well throughout the year. |
