Walking and driving instructions
Simpson Falls is roughly a 20 minutes’ drive away from Brisbane CBD. From the CBD head west on the State Route 32. Take Mount Coot-Tha Rd exit, and follow Mount Coot-Tha Rd, which becomes Sir Samuel Griffith Dr, for 3.2km. Then slide left onto a well-signposted road leading to the Simpson Falls Picnic Area. The parking is 900m away from the main road. The road surface is sealed. A decent size car park has all sort of facilities, including covered tables/BBQ, toilets, water taps. From the parking follow an easy uphill walk which includes some stairs. The first cascades (lower falls) are reached within 10 minutes. Then the track climbs to the bridge over the river, which offers a stunning view of the waterfall's top. Return via the same route. Total walking time is about 25-30 minutes, or 1km 300m. Simpson Falls is a seasonal waterfall with swimming holes at its base. It's completely dry most of the time. Best time to visit – after decent rain, or Jan to Mar. |
