Walking and driving instructions
Witches Falls is roughly a 45 minutes’ drive away from Gold Cost, or 1hour 10minutes’ from Brisbane. From Gold Coast travel north on the M1. Take the Pacific Motorway exit from M1 and head west on the SR 95 (Tamborine Oxenford Rd) for 21km. In a round-about continue straight onto Long Rd for 2km, then turn right onto Hartley Rd and follow it for 1.2km, then turn left onto Main Western Rd. The car park is to your right, 130m past the road’s junction. The road is a sealed one. The car park has a few dedicated spaces as well as all sorts of facilities, including toilets, picnic tables and BBQ . From the parking walk 1.75km 1hr Witches Falls circuit. The walk starts from the parking and recommended to be done in a clock-wise direction. The path descends to the rainforest floor via a set of zig-zags. In 20-30 minutes you will reach a track’s junction – follow a side track (200m) which brings you to the falls lookout. Unfortunately, the base of the falls is inaccessible. From here, return to the junction and then continue the walk as a loop. Total walking time is about 1hr. After heavy rains the lower part of the circuit might be impassable, so we would recommend to do the walk in anti-clock-wide direction and return via the same route. Note: you can start the track from the end of Witches Chase, Tamborine Mountain and walk Witches Chase Track (1hr return) which leads to the falls lookout either. This parking option doesn’t have any facilities. Witches Falls can dry out completely. Best time to visit – after decent rain, or Jan to Mar. If you’re allowed to fly drone near this waterfall, then you will be able to take best photos. |
