Walking and driving instructions
Tim Shea Falls is roughly a 1hr 30 minutes’ drive away from Toowoomba, or 1 hour’ from Dalby. From Dalby travel north-east on Dalby Cooyar Rd for 25.7km. Then turn left onto well signposted Bunya Mountains Rd and follow it for the next 34km. Last 15km is a typical winding road, so be careful. Then turn right onto Bunya Ave which in 750m brings you to Dandabah car park. The road surface is sealed. The car park at the end of the road has all sorts of facilities, including i-Site, café, toilets, picnic tables and even a campsite. Festoon Falls and Tim Shea Falls are found along Scenic circuit – 4 km, 1hr 20min. From the parking follow a well signposted and easy to navigate Scenic circuit (clock-wise direction). Roughly in 20 minutes you will reach Tim Shea Falls (signposted). From here, either return to car park via the same route (total walking time 30-40 minutes), or continue to walk the track as a loop (total walking time is 1hr 20 minutes). Tim Shea Falls can dry out completely. Best time to visit – after decent rain, or Jan to Mar. Alternately, Tim Shea Falls can be visited as part of Barker Creek circuit – 10 km, 3-4hrs. There 3 more waterfalls en route - Paradise Falls, Little Falls and Big Falls. |
