Walking and driving instructions
Kalang Falls is roughly a 4hrs' drive away from Sydney CBD, or 2hrs' from Blue Mountains National Park (Katoomba). From the Sydney head west on the M4/A32. Roughly, after 130km of driving slide left onto Jenolan Caves Rd which goes via popular and spectacular Jenolan Caves (worth a stop) and it's a typical winding road. After 51km, turn left onto Kanangra Walls Rd (signposted 'Kanangra-Boyd National Park') and follow it for the next 27.5km (until its end). Kanangra Walls Rd is an un-sealed road with lots of potholes. Park entry fees: $8 per vehicle per day. There is a dedicated car park at the end of the road which has track's sign/map, covered picnic table and a long-drop toilet. There is an awesome campsite 7km before the falls` car park. From the parking follow a wheelchair-friendly walk path which brings you to Kanangra Wall Lookout. Then follow a long set of stairs down to the base of the falls. There are stunning views along this walk, hence don`t forget to take pictures. This walk is not recommended for small kids, while the bigger kids must be supervised. Return via the same route. The walk to the falls is about 15-20 minutes, the walk back is much harder due to up-hill section (have lots of water in hot days) and takes 25-40 minutes. Kalang Falls is a permanent waterfall. |
