Walking and driving instructions
Trentham Falls is roughly a 1hr’ drive away from Ballarat, or 1hr 15minutes from Melbourne. From Melbourne head north-west on the M79. In Macedon turn left onto the C792 and follow it for the next 7km, then turn left onto the C317. In Tylden (in 12km) turn left onto the C318 and stay on it for the next 8km. Turn right onto Trentham Falls Rd and then in 2.3 km turn right to Trentham Falls Reserve (well signposted). The road surface is sealed. A huge car park is well signposted. All types of facilities are available here, including toilets and picnic tables. From the parking follow an easy downhill walking path which brings you to the upper viewing platform. Due to some stairs, the walk is not suitable for wheelchair/kids strollers. Unfortunately, a track to the base of the falls has been closed for ages. We don’t recommend to take this walk, please keep to the official track. Return via the same track. Trentham Falls is a permanent waterfall, but it looks really impressive after rains. |
