Walking and driving instructions
The Blowhole Waterfall is roughly a 50 minutes’ drive away from Ballarat, or 1hr 40minutes from Melbourne. From Ballarat travel north-east on the A300 until you reach Daylesford. In Daylesford turn left onto the C138 (Herpburn Rd) and follow it for the next 3.7km. Turn left into Main Rd and stay on it for the next 1.3km. Turn left again into Eighteenth St, then turn right into Blowhole Rd. A well-signposted car park is located at the end of Blowhole Rd. The road surface is sealed. The car park has a sign ‘The Blowhole’ and it’s relatively big. There are no facilities there (no toilets). From the parking follow an easy downhill walking path which brings you to the upper viewing platform. Then a set of wooden stairs lead to the lower viewing platform. Also, you can cross the Sailors Creek and observe the waterfall from a distance. It takes roughly 10-15 minutes to reach The Blowhole from the parking. Due to some stairs, the walk is not suitable for wheelchair/kids strollers. Unfortunately, the track to the waterfall has been closed since 2016. We don’t recommend to take this walk, please keep to the official track. The Blowhole Waterfall is a permanent cascade. |
