Hopetoun Falls is roughly a 1-hour’ drive away from Apollo Bay, or 2.5 hours from Melbourne. From Apollo Bay Town Centre head east on the B100. In 7 km turn left into C119 and stay on it for the next 14.5km. Then turn left into C159, sealed winding road, and follow it for the next 16km. Turn left into Binns Rd, which is an unsealed road, and follow it for the next 4.8km. Turn right into Hopetoun Falls Road and in 400m reach a car park.

The dedicated car park is at the end of Hopetoun Falls Road. There are no facilities here.

It takes just 2 minutes from the parking to reach the Upper Lookout platform. Unfortunately, you won’t see the full waterfall from here (please refer to the photo gallery). We highly recommend walking down the stairs to the falls base. It takes 10 minutes only to reach the Lower Lookout platform. The waterfall looks magnificent from here! Return via the same track. The way back takes about 20 minutes – you need to walk 200+ stair-steps, so reasonable level of fitness is essential.

Hopetoun Falls is a permanent waterfall.
