Walking and driving instructions
Winifred Falls is roughly a 50 minutes’ drive away from Sydney CBD. From the city center head south on the M1 then on the A1. In Lotus, roughly in 33km, take Farnell Avenue Exit (has 'Royal National Park' sign) which becomes Sir Bertram Stevens Dr. Follow this road for 5.5km, then turn left onto Warumbul Rd and follow it for the next 400m. A car park, to your left, is on the side of the road. The road is a sealed one. Park entry fees: $12 per vehicle per day. The parking has no facilities (nearest toilet is in Audley) other than a track's sign board. Warumbul Rd Gate is locked at night. From the parking, cross the road and follow the main trail for 1.55km (official sign says 1km, which is incorrect). First part is more or less flat, then it is a steep and slippery descend. Be careful! When you reach a sign 'Winifred Falls' the more challenging part of track starts, which leads to the bottom of the waterfall. Take extra care. Return via the same route. Total walking time is 1hr. If you've got time, appropriate gear and moderate fitness level, you might want to visit one more waterfall - Anice Falls, which is found a 1 km further along the main walking trail towards Maianbar Rd. Winifred Falls is a permanent waterfall (a gentle trickle most of the time as per the main photo); best to visit is after decent rain. |
