Toonoum Falls is located about a 1 hour and 10 minutes’ drive from Sydney CBD. From the city center, head south on the M1 and then onto the A1. After approximately 44 km, take the McKell Ave exit in Waterfall (marked with a 'Royal National Park' sign), which becomes Sir Bertram Stevens Drive. Continue along this sealed road for 7.2 km. A signed car park is located on the left side of the road. Please note, park entry fees are $12 per vehicle per day.
The car park has no facilities except for a signboard about the waterfall; the nearest toilets are in Waterfall village.
The top of the falls is just a short, easy 1-minute walk from the parking area, but the view here is limited.
An unofficial track, about a 5-minute walk each way, leads to the base of the waterfall. The path is steep and can be slippery, so caution is advised.
Toonoum Falls is a permanent waterfall, though it usually appears as a gentle trickle, especially during dry periods. The best time to visit is after significant rainfall.
Note: Attempts to locate Little Toonoum Falls nearby were unsuccessful.
