Walking and driving instructions
Curl Curl Creek Waterfalls are roughly a 35 minutes’ drive away from Sydney CBD. From the city center head north along the M1, then slide right onto the A8 (Military Rd) and follow it for the next 9km. Turn left onto King Rd and follow it until you reach the Manly Dam Reserve Entrance. From here drive until the end of the road (best place for starting the walk). The road is a sealed one. The Manly Dam Reserve has got all sorts of facilities, including toilets, playground, picnic tables. There is a great swimming spot near the park entrance. The parking is paid (as per Jan 2019: 1 May- 30 Sep 7am-7pm $8/hr or $35 all day, 1 Oct- 30 Apr 7am-7pm $10/hr or $40 all day) From the parking, follow the Park Circuit Track which runs along the Dam and then heads into the bush. The track is flat without any uphill/downhill sections. You will reach the first (main) waterfall within 20-25 minutes (the official sign says 45 minutes). There is a great pool at the falls' base, which is suitable for swimming. The top of the waterfall is accessible from the main track. From here, walk along the official path for 5 more minutes until you reach the second (smaller) waterfall. It's about 5m tall, but it doesn't have a good spot for taking photos. Return via the same way. Total walking time is about 1hr. Curl Curl Creek Falls are permanent waterfalls. Best time to visit it after decent rain. |
