Walking and driving instructions
Nellie's Glen Falls is roughly a 2hours' drive away from Sydney CBD, or 1hr' from Wollongong. From the Sydney or Wollongong head south on the M1. Slide right onto the A48/Terry St immediately after the bridge over the Macquarie Rivulet. On the intersection with Illawarra Hwy/A48 turn right and follow the main highway via Macquarie Pass for the next 22km. Then turn left onto Jamberoo Mountain Rd and follow it for the next 5km. Turn right onto Cloonty Rd (signposted 'Carrington Falls') and after 1.5km slide right onto Nellies Glen picnic area. The car park is 400m away from beginning of this road. The road surface is sealed. The parking has no facilities other than an information(map) board. From the car park follow an easy and flat walking path, which in 5 minutes (130m) brings you to the base of Nellie's Glen Falls. It's a popular swimming hole in the area, hence could be quite busy. There is a picnic table nearby. Return via the same route. Total walking time is about 10 minutes. Nellie's Glen Falls is a permanent waterfall. Best time to visit - after a decent rain. |
