Walking and driving instructions
Carrington Falls is roughly a 2hours' drive away from Sydney CBD, or 1hr' from Wollongong. From the Sydney or Wollongong head south on the M1. Slide right onto the A48/Terry St immediately after the bridge over the Macquarie Rivulet. On the intersection with Illawarra Hwy/A48 turn right and follow the main highway via Macquarie Pass for the next 22km. Then turn left onto Jamberoo Mountain Rd and follow it for the next 5km. Turn right onto Cloonty Rd (signposted 'Carrington Falls') and after 2.3km slide right onto Carrington Falls picnic area. The car park is 350m away from beginning of this road. The road surface is sealed. The parking has all sorts of facilities, including picnic tables and BBQ. From the car park follow an easy and well-maintained loop walk, which brings you to three lookouts with great views of the main waterfall. Total walking time is about 20-25 minutes. The top cascade is accessible via an un-official track from Nellies Glen Picnic area. Carrington Falls is a permanent waterfall. Best time to visit - after a decent rain. Make sure it's not a foggy day, as the waterfall might not be seen at all! Note: all photos are taken from the Information Board. |
