Walking and driving instructions
Clematis Falls is roughly a 3 minutes’ drive away from Halls Gap Town Centre, or 45 minutes from Dunkeld, or 1.15 hours from Hamilton. From Halls Gap Town Centre head north on the C216. On the junction with C222, turn left – the car park is on the right in 130m from the junction. The road surface is sealed. Parking is available on both sides of the road, however, the parking on the right has more space. There are no facilities here (no toilets). The beginning of the track is signposted. From the sign, follow a well-formed path which leads to the falls’ base. The track TO the waterfall is a gentle uphill walk. It’s an easy walk, so even kids can make it. The track to the falls branches off the main trail 100m before arrival, and it’s a rocky section which can be slippery after rain. It takes roughly 20 minutes to reach the falls. The waterfall is very tall, but has no water in a dry season. You can come very close and touch the water which drop from significant height. Return via the same track. Or, if you have time (and energy, of course), return to the main trail (100m) and continue on to the Chatauqua Peak Loop (2.5hrs). |
